How do I obtain a copy on a units Joint Meritorious Unit Award?

I was with a Joint unit but failed to obtain a copy of the JMUA orders due to the fact they were not published before I left. Is there a way I can contact HRC and show them that I was in the unit when it was awarded to them so that I am allowed to wear it?

SSG Private RallyPoint Member Contact the unit that was awarded the award. That would probably be easiest.

If you are still in the service, contact your PAC, they should be able to update your file to add the necessary documents. From HRC:
"Unit Human Resources Specialists may use the listings posted on the Awards and Decorations Branch as a reference to locate AGOs from the Army Publishing Directorate website or request copies of orders from ADB to use to update Soldier's records. A copy of the unit award is not required to update records. Only the awarded unit receives the order and it is not necessary for individual Soldiers to receive copies of unit awards to have their records updated to reflect permanent award of a unit award. Copies of AGOs and unit award certificates or citations may be added to Soldiers' OMPFs to update their records"

Were you a member of an Army unit assigned to a JTF, or were you a member individually assigned to the JTF? If member of a subordinate unit, the JMUA isn't authorized. If in a bullet in the joint unit, it would be authorized. Ref: DoD 1348.33, Vol 4, para 1.2.c.(7).
If assigned to a joint unit, see GO 2016-06, Unit Awards, which lists approved JMUA for period 1 SEP 2011 thru 15 NOV 2015.

SSG LaShawn Parker - Besides what's already been told you - all US Army unit awards are published under General Orders of the US Army listing what units, type unit award, with their inclusive dates and service requirements.

You will have to search the MARADMINS for the JMUA awards for your unit. It’s sounds daunting; but if you simply google MARADMIN, they have a way of searching by the year.

I went thru awards department in Virginia they did all research , mailed me each award , and updated my dd214 and mailed that to me as well
