They’re structured the same. As a Tango, you may end up in the GSAB, the ASB, or the Assault Bn in a maintenance or flight position. The term light infantry applies more the the ground/BCT side of the house at Drum. Simply boils down to the fact that they do not have heavy armor/ vehicles etc. and they’re structured a bit differently than say 3rd ID or 1st ID. I deployed twice from Drum and for aviation it was the same as anywhere else. Infantry is Infantry; flying is flying; maintenance is maintenace; cooks are cooks; supply is supply; and S1 is S1. Yes, there is difference depending on which specific unit you go to - unit level maintenance is different from depot maintenance, and unit level supply is different from working in a support company. But similar units across the major installations operate similarly.

When you get into the more elite units or into the more "niche" installations (i.e. not FORSCOM) *then* things *might* get a little bit different. But aside from having different hazards to plan for (i.e Fort Drum = cold, snow, and ice; fort bliss = dust and sand), one unit is the same as another.
