I am on the board this May for Warrant Officer. If I get selected how can I ensure I receive PCS orders since flight school and wocs is at the same post. IDK if i would have enough time in-between wocs and flight school to go home, pack everything, etc. etc.

If you are going to WOCS for flight school, you will receive normal PCS orders. The only ones who PCS and return are the Tech Warrants. You will in-process Fort Rucker as normal as Mr. Enright said as a "Snowbird" (white rank with a "WOC" rank on it.) After that you will do your 2 phases of WOCS (since I assume you haven't completed ALC as a SPC you will do Phase 1 at WOCS instead of online.) After WOCS you will go through the Aviation Warrant Officer Basic Course. Then you will have S.E.R.E. School and Dunker Training. Following those you will go through Aeromedical training. Following that you should start Primary. Primary will consist of a classroom and flying, followed by Instruments, then Basic Warfighting Skills. After BWS is Aircraft selection, then you move on to learning your airframe.

You’ll have enough time in between being selected for Warrant and going to school. I believe I had around 4 months. It may vary. You’ll get your orders and then report to Rucker on the date it says. From there you’ll have time to inprocess the post. After that, you will report to WOCS HHC and become a snowbird until moving over to 1st WOCS. Experience for everyone may vary, but that’s the process I went through.

Thank you for your reply sir. So did you move your spouse/family if you have before you started wocs?

No problem! Yes I did. My suggestion would be that when you get your orders make sure it says your family comes with you. There were a few people I know who didn’t completely read their orders and they had to PCS without their family.

What? You should get normal PCS orders to go to Ft Rucker. Why would you need anything different between the two courses- if you make it. There will be travel time included in the PCS, and you can always apply for leave prior to PCSing.

Thank you SGM. My question was just trying to guage at what point I could move my wife to Alabama. Some people have told me that They got TDY orders to wocs then had 10 days leave to bring their family back to rucker. But it seems from other people’s reply I will be able to move her prior to starting wocs.
