Of course I don't think autonomy would work very well in the military, possibly in certain MOSs but not in the majority.<br /><br />I believe the Army has tried very hard to instill in everyone that they belong to something greater than themselves. The Army Profession, The Army Values, etc. I just don't believe the force as a whole is mature enough to understand it in depth. The vast majority of the service is 18-25 year old males, it's not that they're immature, it's just that they aren't fully mature.<br /><br />I concur that the rewards/awards system definitely needs an overhaul as does the punishment system.
