My question to the RP community is: How do you feel about documentaries and TV shows that show off the latest tactics and equipment of the U.S. Military.

I know that these shows don't disclose classified information, but sometimes I feel like too much information is shared.

As long as OPSEC is considered and it is cleared for distro, I'm fine with it. I like the pararescue stuff, personally. What's not to love about medevac?

As others have said, as long as OPSEC is observed, I think it is very helpful overall to show what our military members are doing. Watching shows like "Bomb Patrol Afghanistan", documentaries about Naval forces on Discovery and other channels as well as other shows, really show what our folks are going through. Shows there is a human side to the military.

Nothing on those TV shows are classified. In fact, it's a perfect place to provide misinformation about capabilities! Bottom line, the taxpayer needs to know what he is buying and that it works and is relevant. That is why we have things like military airshows and documentaries.
