How do you feel about the possibility of going up for a board for MSGT?

I'm retired, but I support it. A board adds value to the transition from NCO to SNCO.

I think all in all its a good idea. The issue that I have is the fact that very little guidance was given before the institution of this process for MSgt. I know the board process is basically the same and has been around for the longest time. It will be interesting to see how things were scored with the board.

Boards can be a good thing. However, there would need to be a baseline in-place to keep personal bias from affecting a record review.

Fact is, boarding for MSgt is a great thing. It helps those people shine that have been putting the extra effort in and also gives those an opportunity to shine when they don't have all of the time in the world to volunteer

I wish it happened when I was on Active Duty as a Hard Charging Technical Sergeant; especially so with the accomplishments that others did not attain; it would have gave me a leg up, and it would have given me probably another stripe in retirement... if not 'Chief' itself.

SSGT How does it work now from E7 to E8? It was a board action but not a board you went before.
I spend 20 years in and retired a MSGT and never went before a promotion board. I think I qould have had a better shot going to a board for E8 rether than the board looking at a promonion pack. I went before more boards looking for work in the civilian world than I did the AF.

I think it would be a great thing. No one could ever tell you that you did not earn it after you passed a board.

I am retired, but I think a board is an excellent idea, for any promotion.
