Canvas, who served multiple tours in Iraq, was trained to sniff out up to 70 different bombs. She tried to save her master. "As I was walking towards those stairs I saw her run out of the corner of my eye and give me a signal that there was a bomb there but... I already had my foot on it." But her family to make a hard choice recently. As a result, the small town of Minden came together Friday to support the Marine who earned a Purple Heart in Afghanistan and his beloved K-9 partner. Thank you for your service, Sgt. Canvas and Cpl. Moseley. They didn't state the reason Sgt. Canvas was dispatched. I hope every effort was made to extend his life. To able to be there as a family in and then out of the military. I wish I had the opportunity to do the same for some of the dogs I had.
