Now that I am back stateside i would like to work in that field but I am unsure of how to do so exactly. What should i study? Are there any books? Any Internships? Any work study groups. I really would like some guidance, whatever guidance that can be applied, if possible. I was told that Cybersecurity is a great start, so now im Obtaining my associates in it, with this actually be helpful? They have school info on how to join. It won’t be too hard to get accepted as a NG. Just have the right ASVAB scores. As far as study material...they will have information on in what to study. I would suggest start getting familiar with frequency bands such as VHF, UHF. Practice some basic math skills too because you will do some math. Antenna theory is also a good place to look too. It’s a good place to start for civilian jobs in the ew field. Check out any companies that made any of the ew equipment you used. Raytheon, Northrop Grumman, etc. SFC Private RallyPoint Member Tue, 10 Jul 2018 19:41:10 -0400 2018-07-10T19:41:10-04:00 Response by SPC Private RallyPoint Member made Jul 10 at 2018 7:43 PM https://www.rallypoint.com/answers/how-do-you-get-into-the-electronic-warfare-field?n=3782651&urlhash=3782651

Antenna Theory and Propagation...get a basic understanding on that you will be half way further than your future classmates SPC Private RallyPoint Member Tue, 10 Jul 2018 19:43:07 -0400 2018-07-10T19:43:07-04:00 Response by PO1 William "Chip" Nagel made Jul 10 at 2018 7:43 PM https://www.rallypoint.com/answers/how-do-you-get-into-the-electronic-warfare-field?n=3782653&urlhash=3782653

SPC(P) Private RallyPoint Member The Official Club/Organization of Practitioners of the Trade is the Old Crows Association and their Magazine is JED Journal of Electronic Defense. You can look into Civilian HAM radio classes as a means to introduction into RF Propagation. Or you know, YouTube RF Propagation. Also go on https://armypubs.army.mil and Download FM 3-36 to start. In my opinion Georgia Tech has the best EW classes. If you are new to college, then get a foundation in RF. A science-based associate's degree in cybersecurity is a decent start, but in my opinion you need to go with electrical engineering. If you go to school, avoid for-profit places and ensure that place is accredited. Make sure your security clearance is also still valid since that is also a prerequisite for some defense employers.
