How do you know that you spend too much time on RallyPoint?

Late nights, early mornings, lunch breaks, coffee breaks, weekends, some of us seem to be addicted. So what are some of the warning signs?

1. You can spell all your contacts' names correctly without looking
2. Your spouse tells you to put the laptop/tablet down and you reply, Yes, 1SG"
3. You troll the site for the new 0 response posts
4. You just figure out that "RP" and your initials are one in the same
5. You spend more time on RP than Facebook and ebay combined.

I think the #1 sign that you spend too much time on Rally Point is when you post a question and then answer it yourself!

My name is Steve, and I'm an RPaholic.

Sleep is the only time, however, instead of waking up in the middle of the night to use the bathroom, I check RP.

I am still trying to figure out how I can work my classes around RP this fall.

- You start half of your face-to-face interactions with, "So I read this thing on RP the other day..."

- A military-related question occurs to you, and you search for the answer on the RP discussion threads rather than ask your supervisor.

- You're supposed to be studying for an exam, but you justify spending "just 10 more minutes" on RP.

I check it at least twice a day but only on here for 10-20 min. Been busy lately so I have cut the time down because of work and another training class cycle is about to start up this week. Great site indeed.

The first thing you do after waking up and before hitting the latrine/head is to tune in to RP and post a response. Upon returning from said "social call" you have responses to your post from multiple people on your contact list.

I would say if you have it on the your unit training schedule to check it at specific times of the day, then you are in trouble, Lol! That is why I limit myself daily so that I won't spend hours on RP.

I don't RallyPoint anything wrong RallyPoint with spending a little RallyPoint time on RallyPoint. It is a free RallyPoint country and we are all grown RallyPoint ups. When you see a thread and know who is going to get drawn into the "discussion" and who will "counter-discuss." You have spent WAY too much time when you can tell who will down-vote whom and over what comment. You have spent WAY WAY too much time on RallyPoint when you know who will be the first to email you complaining about the other person. Well i had to give my self a "time out" yesterday to spend some time with my family because i get on here when i wake up and when i get home from work. On the weekends i am on here all throughout the day. Plus i am half harted watching the Army/Navy Game because of this site haha.

I used to do my primary interaction with former/current service members on FB. Since coming here and getting involved, I spend so much less time on FB. I actually prefer the conversations here.

Hopefully, I'm not being too serious.

1. When you start scouring the internet for items to post. I've have a collection of memes and cartoons ready for posting. You also look for "articles of opportunity" to post.
2. When it interferes with your other activities. Even though I am retired, I still have other projects that require attention.
3. When it disrupts you sleep.
4. When it is no longer enjoyable.
5. If you think you're spending too much time on RP (or any other social media site), you probably are spending too much time on social media.

Rally Point is a great site. I can thank RP for reducing my time on Facebook. Definitely, a wider variety of perspectives on RP. However, like any other social media site, it is a tool. Tools can be misused.
