How do you make your hot chocolate?

In the colder weather hot chocolate is made to keep us warm and in my case sane. There are many options of how to do it. Do you use chocolate mix, chocolate syrup, or mix? Do you use water or milk? Do you add whip cream to the top or not.

I take the dry mix package put it in a cup. I take french vanilla creamer....roughly 4 table spoons and add it to the mix. I drop in a couple of splenda (could use sugar) also. then I mix it together to make a thick paste. once fully mixed I add hot water a little at a time continuing to mix it in until the required amount is added

Set out two large mugs. Put a peppermint stick in each.
Shave a half pound of semi-sweet or dark semi-sweet chocolate.
In a small saucepan combine shaved chocolate and a quarter cup (1 stick) of butter, stirring frequently.
In a medium saucepan bring 4 cups of milk almost to a boil. Stir occasionally.
Once either the milk or the chocolate inevitably burn, pour the whole mess down the garbage disposal, then throw out the peppermint, and fill the mugs with bourbon.
Drink both.

Milk with syrup sounds yummy and luxurious! If I got used to drinking that, I'd feel deprived when it's not available, so I keep it real by only drinking a water/powder mix. Powder and water are always available. #1st-World-Problems

I heat the milk in a sauce pan and then add it to a mug with cocoa mix..

In a field environment I add the cocoa mix to a cup of mermite coffee instead of using packets of sugar and creamer.

Add milk into a pot. While milk is boiling add cocoa powder, add a dash of salt, add some sugar, & stir. Pour into your favorite mug, sit on your favorite chair (with a blanket :-) ), & sip as childhood memories flow. I think I need a cup right now...lol

I usually make my hot cocoa with milk and chocolate syrup, add marshmallows and whipped cream. Sometimes I add a little rum.

I like to take chocolate syrup and milk and blend it in my Nurtibullet. The secret is in the blending.

Powder cocoa (not mix like Swiss Miss) with hot milk and marshmallows added. Whipped cream is for heretics that go to Starbucks.

To answer the question. Yes. With a little Irish Cream added.
And on cold camping, festivals and backing a shot or two of the harder straight whiskey added.

I, like Ron Swanson, and other "real" men, do not drink candy. But if I did I would do it this way.

Take 1 lb of your favorite milk chocolate (If I had a preference it would be Godiva) and 1 lb (by weight, use a scale) of heavy cream. Heat heavy cream to almost a boil, stir into chocolate to create a ganache.

Heat more heavy cream & portion into mugs. Stir in chocolate ganache to favorite consistency. It will melt into the cream almost effortlessly. The remaining ganache can be kept in a closed container for weeks in the fridge. Or you can let the ganache cool, portion into bite size balls, roll them in powdered sugar, or cinnamon and have traditional french chocolate truffles.

Since I don't drink anything but Lagavulin this is all just rhetorical though.
