How do you read a profile?

When I'm thinking of making a new connection here on RP, like everyone else, I go check out the profile.

I always like to scroll down to the bottom of the page before I begin reading. I like the chronological order of whatever info they've provided. I've come across a couple that were enjoyable to read this way, because the narrative was one that progressed from station to station.

Reading the same profile in reverse order didn't leave me with the same impression.

Do you start at the beginning of someone's career and scroll up? Or do you start at the end and scroll down to the beginning?

Silly question, eh? But that's the kinda crap that my brain inflicts on me sometimes. :)

I think it's an interesting question. I looked at your profile to see where my eyes naturally wandered and it turns out I look at their dates of service first. Then I go bottom to top.

It's an interesting question, SPC Private RallyPoint Member. I normally read RP profiles from top to bottom, but as mentioned by SSG V. Michelle Woods, some profiles are better reads (and more comprehensive) than others. In terms of possible connections, I look for things that we have in common, e.g.: service in the Marines, an artillery MOS, or civil service in one of the three government agencies (NPS, USCG, and now DON) that I've been employed by.
