LTC Jason Mackay 4601192

I was on eBenefits this morning looking at something to answer a RP question for someone else, when I noticed that VA is tracking I have 0 months remaining. I have at least 15 months remaining. My spouse used the others for a credentialing program. I also no longer seem to have access to the interactive portion that realigns months of benefits between my dependents, which I soaked up a three year ADSO to have the "privilege" to do so. What is the best way to get this corrected? How do you recover Post 9/11 GI Bill Education Benefits from the VA that have been erroneously taken from you? 2019-05-03T12:16:48-04:00 LTC Jason Mackay 4601192

I was on eBenefits this morning looking at something to answer a RP question for someone else, when I noticed that VA is tracking I have 0 months remaining. Being retired I think that should give you enough pull. Possibly a VFW or AMERICAN Legion rep but they might not be as current. Lastly are you still in contact with any former SGMs, CSMs or Personnel Folks still on active duty status? Good Luck! Quite a bit of stuff was lost in the sauce during transition.
The system that tracks what you earned and what has been used is still there, so it should be an easy fix. Also, with the VA now going to a no-time limit GI Bill (used to be 10 years after the Veteran left the service) for using the GI Bill, can a Veteran who is beyond the time limit have their benefits reinstated now?

I also have questions if anyone else knows. I originally had the Montgomery GI Bill Chapter 30 (which used to only be 36 months) and have converted to the Post 911 GI Bill, which my son is using part of now. Last I checked the VA said that I had 14 months remaining, but the Post 911 GI Bill is 4 years: Can I request to have my benefits extended to 4 years since I've earned the Post 911 GI Bill Now (Active Duty since Nov. 2010)?? Anyone else had there benefit time extended?

There is also a new Technical Program that you can apply for if you're a veteran or getting out of the service. As long as you have at least 1 month remaining of benefit. The VA will pay for technical/vocations training and certification from certain technical schools.... it's on http://va.gov.

Home

Apply for and manage the VA benefits and services you’ve earned as a Veteran, Servicemember, or family member—like health care, disability, education, and more.

Response by LTC Private RallyPoint Member made May 4 at 2019 12:39 PM 2019-05-04T12:39:18-04:00 2019-05-04T12:39:18-04:00 LTC Private RallyPoint Member 4603495

Did you transfer benefits to someone in your family on the Post 911 GI Bill LTC Jason Mackay ? If so, that could be why you're not showing any benefit remaining. I transferred benefits to my son & now he's showing benefits. You must get access to ebenefits (You'll have to create a Logon ID, if you no longer have your CAC) and revoke the benefit month's if they were transferred. That way you can use them as well in the future...
