After moving and giving up the unit, I have been looking for another active one to join.
It is a great way to teach and mold young children. They start at 8years old. It was great watching them learn and grow. Best of all, they learned to teach each other. The units are supervised by adults, but ran by the Young Marines.

http://www.youngmarines.com Response by SSgt Dan Montague made Apr 30 at 2015 12:12 AM 2015-04-30T00:12:49-04:00 2015-04-30T00:12:49-04:00 MSgt Private RallyPoint Member 630741

Help daughter in JROTC son in Boy Scouts and daughter in 4H three kids three ways to help Response by MSgt Private RallyPoint Member made Apr 30 at 2015 1:01 AM 2015-04-30T01:01:05-04:00 2015-04-30T01:01:05-04:00 SFC Private RallyPoint Member 630774

I have been in the MN Army National Guard now for over 15 years. The whole time I trained and mentored soldiers on how to fight and do there job to aid in staying alive in combat, how to save a life of a fellow soldier. On the civilian side I completely go to the other spectrum. I am a big volunteer in special Olympics. I coach and mentor young men and women of varying ages (8 being the youngest and 53 being the oldest) in a wide verioty of sports. I teach them the fundamentals of sports as well as helping there social ability. I specialize in downhill blind skiing. I love being able to take an individual that says they can't do it because of there disability and helping them prove to them self and to others that they truly can do it. In turn I believe they help me cope with my PTSD and that's all the payment I need for it.

I also drive my truck after bar closes through downtown and if I see people that are not capable of driving, I'll tell them to get in and I will drive them home so they don't get DUI's. I don't charge and allow them to tip if they feel they need to. I have made several friends doing this. And it helps keep me out of the bars as well.
