There's a bit of a trick to manipulating the face piece around the eyepiece and the nose cup. The TM I told you about tries to talk you through it, but you are best off just seeing the CBRN Soldier. Even fresh out of AIT, that skill should be there.

Quite frankly, I bet your PFC will know it better then a lot because it's fresh. I would defer to that level myself because I am old and rusty and used to the m40 masks. My unit just got the 50s and I am learning about them.

Find an NCO. Ask him or her nicely and they will show you how to do it.

Not meaning to be an ass but I can see how it would come off a bit snarky. The guy is a reservist 1LT and most likely has very little time in service. If he asks an NCO the odds are quite high that they have much more experience than he does. It is also our jobs to help "train" our junior officers. If someone like this asked me I would just show him how to do it without the snark. Honestly if I would have gotten his question before drill weekend I would have made him a little video myself because I have the glasses inserts.

I said nicely because if a junior officer was rude about it the reaction would be completely diffeent.

I appreciate your response Shelia but I don’t have a squad leader. I’m the S2 of my battalion. However, I am deploying at the end of December and I’m a reservist.

Thank You, Sir, for your reply, and more than likely You can ask Supply how to address this situation, for instance, a website. Someone will have the answer, keep asking.
