How do you volunteer for a deployment on active duty?

<div class="images-v2-count-0"></div>I have heard of IA (individual augmentee) positions for certain deployments, but from my understanding that is when a unit requests someone (not specific) from a specialized unit to come on the deployment. Is it possible for active duty soldiers to volunteer to deploy? I know around Fort Bragg specifically there is a lot of trading that can take place prior to a deployment. Is there an official way to make yourself available or is it all just who you know at the right time? ***EDIT*** I am active duty, so the programs for the Guard and Reserve will most likely not help.Mon, 23 Nov 2015 21:45:33 -0500How do you volunteer for a deployment on active duty?

<div class="images-v2-count-0"></div>Contact your branch manager. If I were you I'd try to get assigned to a unit stateside who needs you for deployment. You are more likely to be successful long term than make a short knowledge/career gain as a COADOS/IASFC Private RallyPoint MemberTue, 24 Nov 2015 16:55:08 -05002015-11-24T16:55:08-05:00Response by COL Randy Alicea made Nov 24 at 2015 5:05 PM

<div class="images-v2-count-0"></div>I'd say bring it up to your chain of command and S1 'cause there may be a need for your MOS in some of the deploying units within Bragg. If no luck then request Korea, which is the closest tour to a deployment. Good luckCW4 Angel C.Fri, 27 Nov 2015 18:07:33 -05002015-11-27T18:07:33-05:002015-11-23T21:45:33-05:00
