How does AIT platoon sergeant look to the board for promotion to SFC and Master Sergeant?

I spent my last 2 years as an AIT Operations Sergeant. One of my most intense duties, and very rewarding on a personal level. Had I made the MSG list I might have stayed around longer than 22 years... If you get my drift....

I was an AIT Platoon Sergeant for almost 3 years at Fort Sam and had all my Staff Sergeants make the E7 list. The board has recognized how important and demanding the job is. The last list, we had a 100% selection rate in our company. AIT PSG and Instructor duty is where it's at if you want to further your career. Just remember though, my work schedule was 0300-1900 ish most days and weekends.

I think the quality of the NCO is much greater among AIT platoon sergeants. I am currently stationed with some of the best SSG and SFC I've ever had the opportunity to work with. I sure hope I see a lot of promotions this upcoming board.

It depends more on what the duties entailed and the rating received, leadership time is always good. If your records are well rounded and you stack up against your peers in all other areas-

Most importantly it is a broadening assignment, which can only benefit you on a board. That said, it will depend on how your NCOER's read from that assignment. If you don't rate well it can actually be harmful.
