Step one. Do some research. There are multiple threads of this same topic on the right hand side of this screen (marked similar discussions). Go to this link. http://www.usarec.army.mil/hq/warrant/

Step two. Talk to a warrant officer. Make an appointment. Use your research to ask good questions. Preferably you will want to make an appointment with a warrant officer of the specialization you are interested in. A more junior warrant officer is likely to understand the ins and outs of the selection process. A more senior warrant will help you discover what being a warrant is all about.

Step three. Understand the desire is there, but if you are doing anything other than Aviation, you need to build your technical expertise and leadership skills so you are competitive. Warrant officers are absolutely critical to the technically complex branches, especially maintenance and supply.

Step four. Set your goals and commit. The rest is all checklist and packet building. Prepare for WOC physically and mentally.

talk to your retention NCO - they will have the current info on how to become a warrant officer, green to gold, and a host of other information.

Once a year the military will have a raffle that you have to buy into. If you buy enough tickets, you have a better shot at having your ticket drawn and becoming a Warrant Officer!
