SGT De'Vonte Johnson1892929<div class="images-v2-count-0"></div>In the case of signing a 4187 requesting early separation for employment, can a LTC who serves as the Bridage DCO with active assumption of command orders sign a soldiers request as the approving authority? On milper message 15-019, it says it "AUTHORIZES COMMANDERS EXERCISING SPECIAL COURT MARTIAL CONVENING AUTHORITY (SPCMCA) OR HIGHER TO APPROVE VOLUNTARY EARLY SEPARATION PRIOR TO CONTRACTUAL ETS FOR REGULAR ARMY ENLISTED SOLDIERS". How does this work? ThanksHow does assumption of command work?2016-09-14T18:52:54-04:00SGT De'Vonte Johnson1892929<div class="images-v2-count-0"></div>In the case of signing a 4187 requesting early separation for employment, can a LTC who serves as the Bridage DCO with active assumption of command orders sign a soldiers request as the approving authority? If so they are in command. As for if they can sign for this it will depend - sometimes the requirements say first COL in chain, sometimes it's BDE Commander - they are not always going to be the same!Response by CPT Catherine R. made Sep 14 at 2016 9:17 PM2016-09-14T21:17:56-04:002016-09-14T21:17:56-04:00CPT Jim Schwebach1893526<div class="images-v2-count-0"></div>When"the undersigned assumes command" that's exactly what it means. His signature block doesn't say "sort of commanding" it says "commanding." If the proving level for your request is brigade level command then he's (she's?) the approving authority.Response by CPT Jim Schwebach made Sep 14 at 2016 10:20 PM2016-09-14T22:20:27-04:002016-09-14T22:20:27-04:00LTC Paul Labrador1893573<div class="images-v2-count-0"></div>When an officer assumes command, even if it's only for a day, he IS the commander.Response by LTC Paul Labrador made Sep 14 at 2016 10:38 PM2016-09-14T22:38:12-04:002016-09-14T22:38:12-04:002016-09-14T18:52:54-04:00
