How does it work on active duty moving your household goods, spouse and children?

Best thing you can do as a young soldier is go through your PLT for guodence or consult your S-1 for advice. Any advice you recive on here will not be as good as from your actual command. Best of luck!

As soon as you receive orders for your next assignment, contact housing at your next assignment to immediately be placed on the housing wait list. Then contact your transportation office to make an appointment for your HHG's to be picked up.

For your family you just drive to where you are going if it’s in the lower 48 and Alaska most times. For your house go to the closet base and find their transportation office and they should help you out. I am in the army and when I left AIT I went to the Air Force base near my house to move a few things to Korea my first time. Www.move.mil. You will need to go there are well when you have your orders to set you house hold goods date to be picked up.
