If my husband has orders to join me but his orders are to Ansbach, will we need to file for joint domicile? Or will he just automatically be diverted to baumholder as well? How does joint domicile work? 2020-02-28T19:54:42-05:00 SGT Private RallyPoint Member 5611487

I am currently stationed in Ansbach, Germany but might be moved to Baumholder soon. No. Nothing happens automatically. Somebody needs to amend his orders (or cancel your pending reassignment).
Are you both enrolled in the Married Army Couples Program (MACP)? That should have happened soon after your marriage. That's not automatic, either. You both have to apply. If you are, the Army is supposed to try to assign you both near enough that you can establish joint domicile. Note that "needs of the Army" take precedence.
