How does one go from Army Reserve to Air Force Reserve if one is currently in the IRR for the Army Reserve?

You can be granted a conditional release from the Army IRR on a DD368, the approval authority is HRC St Louis. The approved DD368 will have an expiration date in which you must enlist by. The Air Force Reserve will submit a copy of your DD4 after you enlist to HRC St. Louis. You need to see an Air Force Reserve recruiter to determine your prior service eligibility and vacancies for enlistment into that component. Each branch/reserve component has its own current policies concerning prior service enlistments. It is not the same as a typical recruit.

Talk to an Air Force reserve or Air national Guard recruiter about a conditional release. They will probably take care of all necessary paperwork.

When you are in the IRR you belong to Big Army. You need a conditional release from the Det commander and the administration NCO to get the process going. A conditional release needs to be approved by a Battalion Commander first and that takes time

Number one is First you would have to be a soldier of value ( multi MOS) or one specific that will cross reference like pilot,operator, medical, things like that and then you will need the recieving commanders acceptance letter through the recruiting staff. And then you need your curant commanders authorization for the release. That is the double edge sword of multi MOS is that is you are worth keeping you will not be released unless you have some kind of bigger event in your planed.Moving do to work related is the one they will have a hard time in denying you the transfir. conditional Release from the Army Personnel Center. You have so many days after the initial signing of the release to have it signed by the gaining Commander and sent back to the Army.

I did it. Speak with an Air Force recruiter...they can walk you through the process. I spoke with my recruiter, we completed an enlistment packet and submitted it to my chain of command for a review, along with my request to transfer green to blue. The process was quick and painless. The only snag you may encounter is if you have any negative actions in your 201 file, or you have a Commander who refuses to allow your release. Most good leaders are interested in seeing their personnel succeed, and will properly evaluate, consider, and allow you to transfer. Good luck!

After active air force I joined army guard. Didn't like it. So I waited till my enlistment was up and just joined the air guard. Once your contract is up you can go anywhere you wish as long as asvab scores are good enough and the opening is avaiable

Shouldn't be a problem -- just contact a recuriter and get a conditional release from the IRR pending reenlistment with the Air Force!

We need you to be positive and right now
I would suggest you try to make specialist and get into extracurricular studies(learn an additional MOS.. work on improving your personal jacket(education endeavors, Mos’s.. whatever can make you shine when somebody peers into your jacket and sees a nice list of things you done and they say “We want him !” They want s’one that already has start on doing s’thing snd can contribute to their program.. and not just looking to crossing over for an easy ride..
