How does RallyPoint determine what appears on the home page and other tabs? https://www.rallypoint.com/answers/how-does-rallypoint-determine-what-appears-on-the-home-page-and-other-tabs

I've been trying to break the code on what makes some new questions appear and others not as well as figure out the difference between "new" "recently updated" and "my discussions" in the anwer tab, but I don't think I'm smart enough.

What exactly determines what questions appear on your home page? Is it related to the groups you are in and/or the topics you follow? Is there no universal setting so that any new question/link posed shows up? How about the "new" tab under answers? I'm not sure if that refers to a new question being asked, or a new answer given to an old question. I see a lot of questions I've read before in "new". But if they are there for a new answer, then what's the difference between that and "recently updated"? There are times where I will see a question for the first time in the new tab, but see it is two weeks old and has many answers already, and it wasn't in my new tab earlier.

So overall I'm just confused as to what does or doesn't show up in the various answer tabs and the home page. I'd prefer to be able to see all new questions, whether I follow a particular group/topic or not. Is there a way to do that without having to go to all 100,000 topics and check following? :)

And on the flip side, if I do decide to no longer see a particular topic, is there a way to make them no longer appear? Also, is there a connnection to contacts? Does any topic that a contact posts in also show up in my stuff?

Help a brother out here. I'm confused. It also learns on its own based on your own engagement. For example, if you respond to a certain topic a lot, it will appear more so than topics that you simply view. Any post from in group or from an individual you follow will appear in your feed. Anytime someone contributes to these discussions they will get bumped up in your feed. So, yes the groups/topics and people you follow directly contributes to what you see. The "new" under answers is a chronological view of every question someone has asked on RallyPoint. It sounds like this is the place you're looking for, but please note, this page is just Answers - no updates or links are posted here. Its just a big open forum so if you choose to go there, it won't matter who or what you follow, you see it all. "Recently updated" is the same content but its organized by the most recently updated question (i.e. if someone comments on a discussion from 2 years ago, that is now the most recently updated and appears at the top). Seems like that way it would be equally easy to be made aware of and track links-started discussions as it is questions-started discussions. My sense is that a large portion of the discussions that appear on my home page are originated by shared links vs questions. So I think it would make sense to treat both sources of discussions the same. LTC Private RallyPoint Member Mon, 18 Jan 2016 20:56:19 -0500 2016-01-18T20:56:19-05:00 2016-01-18T15:07:19-05:00
