How does the Army determine prior-service pay grade for applicants looking to transition (was a USMC E6 and currently am an AF E-4)?

Grade determination is based on several things. For example, and E6 gets out but comes back after 24 months. The grade is determined to be an E5 because he did not complete all ade requirements such as advanced leaders course, and was an E6 for 12 months before getting out. The longer the time period for the break in service, the more likely you are to lose your rank. Usually all the USMC PD school are to participate with the Army. I recall that the coast would reduce anyone and everyone who was prior service to the rank of E3.

btw, my break in service has not exceeded 48 months. And my last status with the Marines as an E6 was in the reserve component before coming over to active USAF. Also, I'm trying to return to field artillery (13B) through the Army, and I already have the equivalent of a 13B's ALC under my belt (Marines and Army artillery utilize same ciriccullum and classes). So I find it really hard to wrap my head around the idea of coming into an active operational field artillery unit in the Army, as an E4, with E6 PME schooling already done and having served in a E6 billet for over 3 years as a Section Chief. lol. Im trying to sound humble and not let my cockiness get to me, but its silly to be honest.

I'm uncertain as far as grade determination, but as it stands now Army's current Business Rules (Rules for Prior Service) don't have any opening for an E-6 13B either way. I'm not sure it helps you but it may help you in your decision of rank or job.
