How does the military decide what to call a post?

This is just something that I have wondered in the recent years. I have been active duty and now I am in the National Guard. How does the military decide to call a post, a Camp, fort, concern? Just was wondering the differnce.

Most of them are named in honor of something I would Imagine. I know Fort Lee for example was named in honor of General Lee. It was originally camp lee though.

Well the reason I asked is that you have Camp Kasey in Korea, Camp Buring, Ft campbell, and I think If I remeber correctly, might have changed, but in Germany they where Concern(sp). Was just wondering. SFC Teirney provided a yahoo post that was a little helpful. I just though that with all the people on the network maybe someone could shed a little light on the subject.

I thought the difference was in whether a base was intended to be modular, permanent or temporary? Interesting question though, time to google..
