SSG Peter Muse 354154 <div class="images-v2-count-0"></div>I was talking to our XO (Navy CPT) today and the question was if I felt there were real barriers to racial and gender equality in the workplace. A lot of tension is being fueled by the mainstream and social media. With every incident that makes the news come more statements regarding unfair treatment, awards and punishment in the workforce. I've been there but my story is my story and I wonder how folks in uniform today perceive the unrest and how it affects camaraderie. How does the Military handle growing tension in our country? 2014-12-03T23:24:27-05:00 SSG Peter Muse 354154 <div class="images-v2-count-0"></div>I was talking to our XO (Navy CPT) today and the question was if I felt there were real barriers to racial and gender equality in the workplace. We've all been molded from our respective Service Branch so we should all be of good character to discuss more objectively if some of these instances are real or manufactured by the media and political parties. Soldiers need to KNOW they are valued and will be given every chance to succeed. I think we are almost there. Sensing sessions, the EO program, and the open door policy are a good start to managing tension. If civilian communities had EO programs and sensing sessions like commanders do, perhaps the tension throughout the country would not be so high.
