In the regular Army--get in a line and wait your turn. SFC Joe S. I think you should go. I don't know anything about the CA pipeline as I chose to pursue PSYOP. I am a student now and I don't regret anything. Every daily interaction I have had with the people who already work here has been absolutely outstanding and a high degree of common sense is used and things are easier to accomplish here. All of the headaches and struggles I encountered with my previous unit are no longer an issue and my peers in this course have a similar mindset - we all care about what we are doing. Give it a shot! Having served in both during my formative years as an NCO, I can tell you they are night and day. While the special operations world has high performers in it, there are things they cannot do by the very nature of what they do. They are used to small teams and small unit leadership. This is very different from the conventional side where you can have a company of 300+. How you deal with leadership challenges are going to be different, especially because there are not as many in the SOF world. In some ways, conventional senior leaders perform much better at things.

Not sure this answers anything, but I hope I gave you some perspective.
