How does your personality type work with or conflict with your profession?

With the Meyers-Briggs (16) personality types as a metric. How does your personality type work with or conflict with your profession (MOS, or Daily job (civilians)? I am a ENTP/ ESTJ (some days). I get along pretty well with all I interact with and makes my job pretty easy to perform - since it is customer oriented in a larger sense of things. Be honest and objective about yourself.

I guess mine fits pretty good also. My wife tells me how laid back i am and i cant remember seeing any uptight warrants

I'm not a fan of the Myers -Briggs test, or anything of the kind. My job fits my personality pretty well, though, for which I'm grateful.

I usually walk away from a disagreement when after asking to and hearing more about someone's point of view and I respond with my reason for disagreement then the other chooses a personal attack or repeating their previous statement while disregarding my statement. It tells me she or he isn't looking to understand - just want to "be right."

My peraonality type was at first a much needed well in a desert when I first started working post Marine Corps. When I first arrived in the workplace there was little leadership and I was able to take the reigns and run. After things were established I found I was a little to abrasive for some of the management at the time. So I adapted and overcame and used my assertiveness in moderation and have adapted to the less authoratative leadership style I was so acustomed to. It has worked for me to be more of a coach now.

The ability to withstand the rigors of BASIC COMBAT TRAINING, where one supposedly learns the "kill or be killed", flight or fight, immediately AFTER boot camp, administer the test again. May be a tiny bit of insight into WHAT changes a personality of an ordinary man having been confronted with the potential to compel him out of his comfort zone.

It's a fifty-fifty proposition. On the one hand, I love to talk...so being in sales is right up my alley. On the other hand, I have a very hard time staying "inside my lane", and so corporate life in general, grates on me.

I'm technically minded and I have a leadership style that allows for creativity and expertise to shine. Sadly as an enlisted service-person my ENTJ personality causes me to think on a level above my own. "Know your role and stay in your lane" is a frequent thing that I hear. I work well as a Joint Nodal Network Operator-Maintainer (my current position in my unit) but I get low marks in Sergeant level NCO leadership courses. I keep getting advised to become a Lieutenant or Warrant Officer. I'm not sure if I'll ever get promoted if I can't adjust myself somehow.

I was Type B a lot since I knew my NCOs were Type A leaders. When we went to the field or deployed I became much more Type A.

My Meyers Briggs-ENTJ has not been the greatest fit in many of my positions. In the words used by 16personalities "they overwhelm the more timid and sensitive personality types." I did not fit in with my career field peers when I was Air Force, but I fit in well with other career fields when I had the opportunity to work with them. In my civilian jobs, I have been a part of teams where this has really caused a lot of issues for me. However, there are pros to my personality. My boss, when they choose to, can always count on me to get things done, done right, and done early. I make a great mentor and coach to those that wish to strive for greatness. We are a rare, but mighty force to be reckoned with...only 3% of the population.
