Your duty assignment being key, and any EFMB related issues. You need to check with your gaining S1, they will be able to verify using your particular scenario. Thank you for your service. The main thing would be to make sure your fill out the paperwork in time before you PCS. Getting your EFMP done is key. Even if you know you don’t have anything you will still need to go through the steps. I’m trying to do the same thing myself. Good luck Response by SFC Private RallyPoint Member made Apr 23 at 2019 7:09 PM 2019-04-23T19:09:10-04:00 2019-04-23T19:09:10-04:00 SFC Private RallyPoint Member 4573968 <div class="images-v2-count-0"></div>First and foremost, you would need to let reassignment know you are requesting to serve an accompanied tour ASAP. Trust me, they will try to discourage you and tell you you can’t or tell you “you don’t have enough time” because you are new to the Army, so have your Cadre or a NCO with you when you go. Let them know this is the choice you’re making and have them to provide the necessary documents to you that your family is going to need for their screening. Hopefully your spouse is close to a Military base, if so have her to make an appointment for herself and the kids for an EFMP Screening. She will need to take a DA Form 5888 (which reassignment should provide to you) with her because it has to be signed off and approved by the physician. Once the physicals are completed she would need to get the forms to you ASAP. I’m not sure how much time you have left in AIT but the process could take up too 6-8 weeks because they have to be issued a no-fee passport (no cost to you. So the sooner you work on this, the better your odds are to have your family to travel with you. If you don’t have 6-8 weeks, still have your family to do the EFMP Screening and apply once you arrive to Korea. Good luck to you.....
