How far in advance can someone call branch to be put on assignment?

I have questions in regards to gaining a new assignment. I emailed retention for an updated list of requisitions available. The time frames for reporting (RQRRD) are March2020-April2020. My three year mark at my current station is July. I’m ready for new things. My question is, if I call branch, are these dates too far out to put me on assignment? I called my branch manager in February and He said to call back in May. Any info helps!?

You are doing what you need to regarding assignments. However I would go to S1 and formally submit the request while calling Branch. Thank you for your service.

To tell you the truth SSG. Branch is not going to talk to you until you make e7 or you are promotabe. That's why they have the dream sheet. Da would not talk to me until I made cw3

Work it both ways: at the unit level and at HRC. Your branch manager should (emphasis added) take notes of your conversation an use those when working on the assignment process.

I have been put on orders six month out when I left Korea but I also was on orders to Korea a year out. When I found a place that would be open at my three year mark I just asked my Branch if I could volunteer for the requisition and about two weeks later it showed up.

If he told you to call back in May that's when he's working the assignment for people with your time on station

SSG Hall,
The Enlisted Manning cycle will drop end may. When you day you are talking with your retention(career counselor) for available reqs, please understand that if you have the option of duty station as a reup, your career counselor will submit a HOTLINE up to HRC and your branch manager (BM) will respond, Just because you have a list of reqs that doesnt mean they are valid/available each requisition has a code that means something to us as BMs.
