How far out from DEROS should you expect to come on orders?

My DEROS is January 11th, 2021 and my branch manager is telling me that I can’t expect to come on orders until the August manning cycle with report dates of April-May 2021. If you missed a Manning cycle you’re stuck until the next unless there is an urgent fill. Jan is forever inPCS terms

If you missed the manning cycle like LTC Jason Mackay said, you may have to submit a 4187 for special assignment like recruiting, instructor or DS. Granted, you would then have to pray it gets approved and you're able to move soon.

I was doing 9 months out when I left about 6 months ago, but with all this crap going on, there is a lot of uncertainty I'm sure

Rule of thumb us usually six months. But with the current situation, you'll probably get extended.

HRC is undergoing a new way they assign enlisted personnel. You will absolutely have to wait until your manning cycle opens up which is generally 9-10 months before your DEROS. However, Soldiers can still re-enlist for duty stations outside of the manning cycle window, and this may be how your co-workers are already on assignment. Hang in there, they will take care of you. Ensure you have updated your ASK with your current preferences as they will look to that as well. Keep an open line of communication with them as well. I emailed them about a month out and they updated some things in their system for me.

That's correct, some others who came on assignment were slotted in positions that are called off cycle requisitions. You'll be slotted normally

You can’t worry about what other Soldiers have received because you all have different branch managers, different grade, the type of available assignments and different MOS all play a part. If your branch told you that’s when you’ll receive your assignment instructions then that’s what it will be. The last thing you want us die your branch manager to just send you anywhere. With everything else going on with the current situation across the nation with other people in Korea who are still there past their DEROS, your DEROS if January 2021 is surely not a priority right now (no disrespect intended).
