How hard is it to get a secondary MOS?

My reserve unit is the 94th MP co and I’m a unit supply specialist is it hard to get a second mos to MP? And in the same building there is combat engineer unit what’s the chances of getting a combat second MOS either the MP or a combat engineer?

SPC Private RallyPoint Member Andrew, not hard at all. Just ask your Readiness NCO or Unit Admin to put you in an MP slot and send you to school, or if you prefer, the Engineers, ask them. Caution though, if you received an enlistment bonus for a supply slot, and you leave that slot, you jeopardize your bonus.

I had no problems, as long as there is an opening in the MOS that you want.

First since you are not moving out of the AO, you will need to get a release from your Command, remember they got you until your enlistment is up (unless things have changed since I have been out). Next there needs to be an opening in the unit you want to go to and the receiving unit is willing to take you and pay to send you to MOSQ. Once these hoops are jumped, not too difficult.

PVT Andrew Gooldrup, I was in the 94th MP Co until 2011. I know exactly what you are talking about and it should be very easy to get an MOS as a 31B. You can even go to the Retention Office and have them look over your initial Enlistment to ensure that everything is understood. Good luck to you.

You can wait until your reenlistment and reclass to the desired MOS.

Ah yes the old Unit Supply Specialist. Mike Company Hooahh! Very under appreciated field. At least it was when I was in. If you are offered jump school, take it.

I got one as we trained as MP’s for a deployment, but that was only because of the deployment. I never thought it was really an MOSQ

When I was in it was 76Y, and I have it (keep in hidden). We could take the correspondence courses (probably on line now) and I worked as a unit armorer for a while and viola!. Check the education center, it was also mandatory for E6's to have a secondary MOS when I was in.
