I know my GPA is good. My PT is above average, but I wouldn't say great. Is there a demand for more MP officers right now? How hard is it to get MP? 2018-06-11T14:39:21-04:00 SPC Private RallyPoint Member 3703048

Just finished my MSIII year and want to go active duty MP. Of course, many cadets like MP, and they believe it is a stepping stone to an OGA especially the FBI. Usually though it helps you either become a local/State police officer, TSA, or corr cations officer. So make sure it is something you really want and it is for the right reasons. Pick MP as #1 on your list and if you have a middle road file you should duel ADSO to sweeten your chances. Branch detail would be a potential option, if you can accept those four branch choices, and would select IN or FA as a bonus-but BD isn’t something you should do unless you need the bump.

Your PMS has last years accession #s that has the oml ranges for MP and they can let you know what you can do to get what your heart desires!! Or tell you the true path hazards :) Response by LTC Private RallyPoint Member made Jun 11 at 2018 3:41 PM 2018-06-11T15:41:06-04:00 2018-06-11T15:41:06-04:00 SMSgt Thor Merich 3703835

Why do you want to be an MP over another branch?

If the work of the MP's appeals to you then its a good branch to get into. However, if your goal is more long term and you want to go into civilian law enforcement after your Army career, and you figure that being an MP will help your chances, then you might be making a mistake.

Generally speaking, most civilian LE agencies don't care what you did in the military. Showing that you were an Army officer on a resume is a huge plus to getting hired by a civilian LE organization. However, there is such a huge difference between military law enforcement and civilian law enforcement, and being an MP is much more than just LE duties, that being an MP doesn't give you any advantage over someone else with non-MP experience. Your biggest plus as a potential LE candidate will be your military Officer experience.

Good luck in your future officer career.
