I have asked my leadership but they don’t a good answer. How hard is the process to switch from the active duty army component to the national guard component I have family issues going on and can no longer serve active but I don’t wanna get out yet?

Very easy once you ETS. You said you don't want to get out, but by its definition, the Guard is off of active duty.
If your family issues are serious you can request a hardship chapter.

Go speak with your Retention NCO. Chances are, all that is needed is a DD Form 368 Conditional Release Request. Bear in mind, even if you submit this form, no one in your Chain is required to sign approval. Good luck.

That's not how that works at all. Do not bring your Career Counselor a 368. Those are for going from Guard to Active, not the other way around.

SFC (Join to see) - I stand completely corrected. I won't lie, I was just going off the fact it is a Request for Conditional Release. I did not know it was just specifically for Reserve/Guard to Active. My apologies to PFC (Join to see) for providing false information.

No worries! Lately the Air Force has been on a big push to recruit prior service Army and they've been posting recruiting posters around bases. I've had a lot of guys approaching me because an AF recruiter gave them a 368 and told them they could get released from the Army.
