How heavily will my GPA weigh on the results of my ROTC Green to Gold ADO packet? https://www.rallypoint.com/answers/how-heavily-will-my-gpa-weigh-on-the-results-of-my-rotc-green-to-gold-ado-packet

This fall I will be submitting a ROTC Green to Gold ADO packet. I’ve asked a lot of acceptants, officers, and ROTC recruiters; the general answer to the above question is that the board is mainly focused on everyone’s GPA, and as long as you have a respectable PT score and a passing GT, there should be no issues.

I’ve been told that previous awards and positions don’t really matter or are looked at, as long as your OMPF is valid. How true is that?

Does age play a factor into this? I’m 22 years old.

Last but not least, how competitive do you think my numbers are? My recruiter sent me the national averages for those accepted in 2018, I matched them up to mine below.

Age/Rank - 22 years old, SPC (joined October 2016)
My GPA - 3.85 72 credits | National Avg - 3.30 GPA
My PT - 250 (retake soon) | National Avg - 280
GT Score - 120 | National Avg - 118

Plan on having a LOR from BDR CDR, previous BDE CDR and BDE XO, and my current CC. You'll do fine. You know answers come slow in the Army unless they are telling you someone died. I wish you good luck. And if you do become an Officer, don't forget where you came from. I believe the max age for ROTC is 30 or 32 so you are well under that. I started college late and was 22 when I started. I was too old for ROTC scholarships but still was accepted CPT Brad Wilson Thu, 12 Sep 2019 15:19:12 -0400 2019-09-12T15:19:12-04:00 Response by 1SG Private RallyPoint Member made Sep 12 at 2019 4:28 PM https://www.rallypoint.com/answers/how-heavily-will-my-gpa-weigh-on-the-results-of-my-rotc-green-to-gold-ado-packet?n=5017459&urlhash=5017459

Sounds like you are as good a candidate as any.
It is normal to stress, but it will come out as it is supposed to.
If you are destined to become a Lieutenant and get your platoon lost in the woods, then it was meant to be.
Good luck. 1SG Private RallyPoint Member Thu, 12 Sep 2019 16:28:32 -0400 2019-09-12T16:28:32-04:00 Response by MAJ Private RallyPoint Member made Sep 15 at 2019 6:36 PM https://www.rallypoint.com/answers/how-heavily-will-my-gpa-weigh-on-the-results-of-my-rotc-green-to-gold-ado-packet?n=5027018&urlhash=5027018

Just get the PT score a little higher. Overall, you have a good chance. Keep positive and if it does not work out, have a Plan B.
