I personally haven’t benefitted much from the publication, but I’m curious as to other servicemember’s experiences are with them.

Years ago when I was stationed overseas and before the days of the internet, S&S was an awesome publication that helped keep us informed on current events. Later, as the internet became more prevalent, the publication started going down hill.

Right before I deployed to Afghanistan, the S&S did a piece on the commander of the area we were going to and what an amazing job he did to turn the place around. Well turned out to be all crap. The CO made tons of promises no one could fulfill and left a pathetic plan for my overwhelmingly more experienced CO (SSG in infantry to officer in infantry) to follow.

I read it all of the time when I was stationed overseas. I think it's a travesty that it's being shut down for no good, apparent reason.
