I just left and said I’d think about it. I’d like to know how AIT is ( is it any different for prior service) what deployments are like (I’ve been told that infantry does not deploy as much as they used to and it’s harder to get a combat deployment) and what schools are available as an 11X And what is the difference between 11B and 11X? How is AIT for an 11X, and what are deployments like? Also, what is the difference between 11B and 11X? 2019-09-09T21:34:07-04:00 SPC Cordel St.amant 5008708

Went to Meps today to re-enlist and was basically told I can either have my old job back (14T) or 11X. It is an 11 series floater meaning that in AIT you will be assigned your actual infantry job based on military needs at the time. Every recruit that signs up for infantry is an 11x initially and only later gets assigned while in AIT.

Who the HELL told you that the infantry does not deploy as much as they used to? Look at Iraq, Afghanistan and every zone where we have military presence that is beyond a specops. Infantry, Armor and Arty always deploy to these. Always.

For prior service? You MIGHT get some restrictions lifted that a green recruit would not. When I went through all the SM's in my class were all fresh recruits so I have no basis of knowledge to tell you otherwise.

11b/11C is what an 11x IS. You look up 11B in the MOS guide and it IS the 11x series. You get 11b or 11c. When you get to your OSUT unit they'll decide whether you're an 11b or 11c (mortarman.) Infantry units still deploy every other year for the most part but combat deployments aren't seen as often especially in armored and Stryker units. My time in my armored brigade at fort carson I deployed to jordan as security forces and then two years later to Europe to deter aggression throughout the continent where I was based in poland, germany, and Hungary. There were other units stationed in Lithuania, Estonia, and other countries as well. Now currently I'm supporting Customs and Border Protection in a light infantry unit. If you have any questions about the finer details on differences between 11b and 11c feel free to message me.
