I suspect he was not yet convicted. All awards and decorations are revoked when convicted and discharged. As far as I know, service awards, as opposed to decorations (ie. (Bear in mind that the photo was taken while he was being tried.) One of the worst things to happen to military history. If they wanted everyone to wear a beret then why didn't they give everyone a tan one like the rangers had to switch to and let them keep their heritage and black ones.
