Manning, how is he wearing a National Defense Service Medal?
Anyone know if it's possible to revoke?

She served during a time that it was awarded.

It does seem ironic, since she betrayed her country. They take rank away ... I wonder about awards as well. Probably a moot point, because she'll likely never wear the uniform again.

Well in that picture he still hadn't been convicted yet. I am sure if they wanted to they could retract it. I am sure while he's serving for the next 9 to 35 he probably has bigger things to worry about.

He is wearing as he earned. I suspect he was not yet convicted. All awards and decorations are revoked when convicted and discharged. US military prisoners are demoted and discharged IAW with their sentences before they are sent to long term confinement.

He is (was) eligible, because he served during the time period authorized for all service members.
Now it would be revoked, along with all badges and accoutrements, due to his convictions at Court Marshall.

I am not a fan of Private Manning but he is entitled to it. As far as I know, service awards, as opposed to decorations (ie. Bronze Star Medal, ARCOM, AAM), cannot be revoked for misconduct and/or court martial conviction.

Regardless of how you feel about Private Manning, he was innocent until proven guilty and, therefore, entitled to wear his military awards on his uniform. (Bear in mind that the photo was taken while he was being tried.) I haven't specifically heard of awards being revoked following a court martial conviction - even for extreme offenses.

Still can't get over seeing regular service men/women wearing a black beret. One of the worst things to happen to military history. If they wanted everyone to wear a beret then why didn't they give everyone a tan one like the rangers had to switch to and let them keep their heritage and black ones. Just ridiculous!
