This was my first duty station in 2006. Be prepared for the coldest temperatures you have ever witnessed. Get a block heater for your car. The assignment isn't bad. The two commands are both great to work for. The town is small and the people are tolerable. The locals are mostly oil or coal miners. The bars are fun during the summer it's actually a really beautiful area.

I cant disagree with that sir. I only been here for roughly a year, shy of 2 months and I got nothing negative to say about the installation. Having a vehicle up here does help but there are people out here that wont hesitate if one needs a ride. People are just awesome to be around and having a small town/city makes it better, for me at least.

I have had a good time here. Like it has been said, it depends on what your are going to be doing. There isn't as much for single people as I would have thought, but there are a lot of events either on base, or sponsored through base organizations. The town is small, but there is everything you will need. There are a lot of cultural spots around, and there are historical items as well if you are in to that. It does get cold, but I have seen worse. You get used to it after a while. The big thing to remember is that you have to approach it with an open mind.

You will be fine. The big thing to remember is to mentally/physically prepare for cold weather. I highly recommend researching dressing for cold weather (especially if you have lived in warm climates).
