You will want to stay on the east side of town. The cut backs have impacted the area hard on the west side and near post! Good Luck! I love it. It is very family oriented so single soldiers do not have as many "single activities" but I heard Tinder is on point.
The schools are all pretty awesome save a few. There are more childcare facilities than you can shake a stick at.
I think Sango Elementary is in the top 5 elementary schools in Tennessee to give you an idea. My kids now go to Hazelwood Elementary and I have no complaints, it's a good school as well.
Day cares... You may need to shop around a little. There are plenty of good ones but are pricey. I prefer the Family Child Care where a grandma or military spouse takes care of a few kids. I have better luck with that but my kids are...... a little intense. ADHD and daycares don't mesh well. I believe that Sango may have the best schools. I would say that anything in the Rossview or Richview area you can't go wrong. Exits 8 and 11. I just got here and there is plenty to do. The commute from these exits are not bad at all. Exit 8 is a great area as there are homes galore for sale or rent. Not to mention that you will be halfway between exits 4 and 11 on I 24, which will give you ease of access to any shopping or services you may need. As stated before, the schools are great out that way and crime is very low. Definitely live in Clarksville not oak grove of Hopkinsville. About 40 minutes from Nashville, 2 hours from Chattanooga/Memphis/Louisville and gatlinburg, used to go somewhere cool every weekend with my family. As for day care there were several incredibly cheap facilities around the post that were perfectly fine.... It's a great school, but the reviews on great schools change yearly. I'd avoid the Kenwood school district. The closer you are to Campbell the more transient the student population, so the test scores fluctuate. Exit 8 and on is more Nashville sleeper communities. There is a racetrack near exit four that is pretty loud on weekends. Property crime is high, don't leave valuables exposed in your car at night. Not much in the way of parks or playgrounds for the most part. We love the surrounding area. It is more of a country feel with all the amenities you would need from the city, great places to eat and lots to do if you like being outdoors. Nashville is only 45 minutes away so anything Clarksville is missing you will find there. Just like most duty stations people don't seem to understand most traffic laws so it gets a little hectic at times but never too bad. I live off Tiny Town road where they have just built a new school 3 years ago and a lot of new housing developments. I suggest this area for its close proximity to post. We homeschool our children but talking with people around us they seem to like the schools. If homeschooling is an option there is a great support group to assist in the area. Good luck with your move! CW2 Private RallyPoint Member Thu, 18 Aug 2016 07:57:56 -0400 2016-08-18T07:57:56-04:00 2016-07-06T09:09:49-04:00
