We&#39;ve had the legacy systems for so long that it&#39;s difficult to transition. I myself, have been in a 92A2O slot, as a 91B because we didn&#39;t have clerks, and I became proficient in SAMSE. We just got the fielding class for our Unit, and the clerks we have, have no idea what they&#39;re doing. They can&#39;t figure out work orders, PRNI, service schedules. It&#39;s incredibly frustrating. The theory sounds great, but the reality at least in my unit is aggravating Response by SPC Private RallyPoint Member made Sep 9 at 2016 6:59 PM 2016-09-09T18:59:02-04:00 2016-09-09T18:59:02-04:00 PFC Private RallyPoint Member 1878315 <div class="images-v2-count-0"></div>I hate the new GCSS-A Its so weird Response by PFC Private RallyPoint Member made Sep 9 at 2016 8:00 PM 2016-09-09T20:00:20-04:00 2016-09-09T20:00:20-04:00 SPC Private RallyPoint Member 1880465 <div class="images-v2-count-0"></div>Plan and simple it sucks. And also all the name changes are confusing me to. With that said, it is an internet based system which has advantages and disadvantages. Advantage, you can look across the Army, at all levels, and find parts, disadvantage, if your internet goes out, automations comes to a complete halt. The system also forces officers to ride the desk even more than before, those officers that you like, the ones that get into the bay and learn, the ones that get their hands dirty because there&#39;s no reason not to, are now forced to sit at their desk waiting for GARMY to send requests for them to approve (or disapprove).<br />There is currently an offline system in the making that should help with the training on the new system. Currently the only training is through awful slide decks where you can&#39;t make a mistake and honestly don&#39;t learn anything from them.<br />When comparing it to SAMSE, I believe it is more difficult to use due to, at least for now. It doesn&#39;t cross talk between the applications, if you put information in on one TCODE and then move to another for additional information, the info inputted does not always transfer and must be re-entered. With the TCODEs, if you don&#39;t have a &quot;favorites&quot; set, it will take you a good bit of time to find the applications you want to use. With that said, have the civilians help you set up favorites (if you still have them there) or get with a battle that has already been fielded for a while to try and grab their profile of favorites.<br />Once we get the clerks and maint managers use to the system and figure out how to manipulate it to get the information we need it will be easier to work, and I believe the offline training system will greatly improve everyone&#39;s knowledge of the system. Be perpared for equipment not migrating over and issues with work orders. You are a few examples what you can do trip tickets. Its a system that has been around for years many huge companies use it. Glad the Army upgraded to a system where we can work from virtually anywhere and be able to make sure the proper paperwork is done. To me the biggest difference is, where SAMS-E took two or 3 key strokes to complete a particular function, GCSS Army takes 5-6. Also, GCSS Army is &quot;role-based,&quot; so if you aren&#39;t a clerk or a maintenance manager, your rights on the system are limited. Lastly, the system is Torres and designed for everyone to have viewer access and rights. Meaning that if the BN, BDE, or DIV CO wants to fact-check your brief, they can at ANY time. I actually like the system. And like anything else, don&#39;t fear the &quot;new tech.&quot; Dig into the system, learn the T-Codes. Don&#39;t wait on others to come and teach you. I&#39;ve seen CW2s get plucked up to DIV because they know GCSS Army and their peers don&#39;t. I know that&#39;s a lot, but that&#39;s about as BLUF as I can be on GCSS Army.
