How likely is it for a non-combat arms officer to be sent to Ranger School? https://www.rallypoint.com/answers/how-likely-is-it-for-a-non-combat-arms-officer-to-be-sent-to-ranger-school

I am currently a 31B, I really enjoy this MOS so far. I plan on going back to school after this deployment (NG) and pursuing ROTC, and an active duty slot, possibly as a 31A. However, one of my major military goals is Ranger School, it’s extremely difficult and I want that challenge. How likely am I to have a packet excepted as a 31A? I understand that the Rangers want all officers and Senior NCOs to be tabbed rangers. I guess the determiner would be, is the 75th Inf Regt (Ranger) a real regiment? If so, then there would be bunches if non combat arms officers. I tend to think that it is not because it seems they do not have companies A through M. Just Batts, I think that what Rangers call Battalions, that have A-D companies that repeat in each Batt. It appears to me that they took the 6 Original Batts and inactivated 3 and the independent Ranger Companies (LRRP). Commingled them in the 75th Infantry Regt and added (Ranger). So I would think they only need a MI officer as S-2, a MC Bn Surgeon, a MSC platoon leader, a Chaplain and a CESO for each Batt. This is all from reading, mainly on here, so not take as gospel.

BTW, the 199th had Company M, 3rd Batt, 75th Regt attached in RVN.
