<div class="images-v2-count-0"></div>I'm surprised to hear that you can cook in the barracks, maybe it's changed. <br />In my day, cooking wasn't allowed in the barracks due to the hazard of fire, but smoking was allowed, maybe that's why we had a fire watch through out the nights with the CQ.SGT Carl BlasSun, 17 Mar 2019 16:58:06 -04002019-03-17T16:58:06-04:00Response by MAJ Javier Rivera made Mar 17 at 2019 5:37 PM

<div class="images-v2-count-0"></div>I had a couple of guys in my RGT brought Keurigs into the barracks for when they got up in the morning and everyone on the floor loved them. No one ever complained about it, they even gave some to the Command Sergeant Major, (branded "Death Wish Coffee" ) and he liked it! It was a long time between the time they woke everyone up and chow because the CSM got a little "long winded" in his morning address. Everyone from that floor was very happy to have it, an no one in the command staff had a problem with it. In time though, it just became to much to have there and we stopped having the Keurig. We just ultimately learned to ingest the 15W40 they gave us at the chow hall because we ran out of time to clean it all up and make it presentable.SGT(P) Private RallyPoint MemberSun, 17 Mar 2019 18:04:17 -04002019-03-17T18:04:17-04:00Response by LTC Jason Mackay made Mar 17 at 2019 8:50 PM

It will outline prohibited items and which items are permitted relative to how the barracks is equipped . Cooking incidents are the majority of fire alarms in the barracks. Usually hotplates and candles are strictly verboten as a rule.LTC Jason MackaySun, 17 Mar 2019 20:50:11 -04002019-03-17T20:50:11-04:00Response by 1SG Brian Adams made Mar 18 at 2019 12:28 AM

<div class="images-v2-count-0"></div>I would say no. An unattended heat source could always cause a barracks fire. I would consult a senior NCO for guidance. My experience has always been that whatever you do, it will always have the worst possible unintended outcome.CPT Private RallyPoint MemberMon, 18 Mar 2019 05:56:48 -04002019-03-18T05:56:48-04:00Response by Capt Daniel Goodman made Mar 18 at 2019 3:42 PM

<div class="images-v2-count-0"></div>I know you didn't bring this up, and there'd probably be the same sort of rules likely barring it, I'd just wondered about whether you'd ever thought about asking about a really small microwave oven...as I'd said, you'd probably likely be barred for the same sorts of reasons, however, I just thought I'd mention it for whatever possible good the idea might be worth, you know? It probably wouldn't be allowed, as I'd said, for similar safety reasons, of course...then, too, there are also those small plug-in cooking coils for heating up some soup or something, that one just immerses in a cup and then unplugs, I'd expect they're relatively cheap, though, once again, you'd obviously need to ask, of course, you'd likely get pretty much the same no answer, I'd expect....Capt Daniel GoodmanMon, 18 Mar 2019 15:42:08 -04002019-03-18T15:42:08-04:00Response by Capt Daniel Goodman made Mar 18 at 2019 6:05 PM

<div class="images-v2-count-0"></div>Weird thing is, in the BOQ where I was, there was a small kitchenette...one would think something like that could certainly be approved for a TV dayroom in most barracks, with those staying there taking turns assigned to keep it clean...just a thought, obviously....Capt Daniel GoodmanMon, 18 Mar 2019 18:05:22 -04002019-03-18T18:05:22-04:002019-03-17T16:18:22-04:00
