How likely is it that my battalion is really running out of waivers to SPC?

Hello, this is my first time here and I figured this would be a good place to ask. So I entered the Army as a PFC which means I have about 19 months TIG and TIS. I do believe I am eligible for a waiver to SPC, however my PSG and NCOs have told me and several other PFCs that our battalion has run out of waivers to SPC. How true is this or am I getting the run around?

If you are on Active Duty, units/battalions are allotted a certain number of waivers they can give. If they ran out, then they have run out. You can always ask your PSG about the AAA-119 Waiver Allocation report. That will show how many waivers are allowed and how many have been used.

PFC (Join to see) - note my response to a similar question. There is nothing capricious about waivers. It is very mechanical. Who gets them and why is left to the command based on merit. I haven't had any leadership roles in Basic or AIT, so I don't have any promotion points currently. I'll be going to my duty station soon, and want to be sure that when slots open up to promote, I'll be at the top of my cadre's list. Also, any advice for 15R fresh out of AIT would be appreciated.

There are only so many waivers based on the density of the TOE/TDA, so you're most likely getting good information. I will ask, what are you doing to make yourself worthy of one of the elusive waivers if/when one becomes available? Good Luck!

Well CSM, I can definitely say that I am always early to formations. I have never failed a PT test and always pass it with a 270 or higher. I am the battalion PAO and Battalion Commanders driver if that accounts for anything. I have been asking to go to Airborne and Air Assault school but I don’t know what else I could do to make my self more notable.

Can't speak for your Battalion's leadership, but being the BC's driver doesn't hurt -- those are generally sharp Soldiers (don't let that go to your head). Thoughts on the SOM boards?

You can do college classes, skill port courses, DLC 1 if you haven’t finished it yet. Your NCO should also tell you what the command is looking for when they decide who should get the waiver for SPC. If they don’t tell you than you should ask them since it’s your career you are trying to improve PFC (Join to see)

I'm sure they do have limits, but I've rarely heard of waivers being used, so I'm surprised to hear that they have hit the limit. Is everyone getting their EIBs and Tabs or what?
