How likely will I be able to keep my AFSC/MOS if I enlist in the AD Army?

Currently, I’m in the AF reserve as a medic but am trying to enlist in the Army AD. I know there is a thing call prior service business rules for the Army. Is it likely I might be able to keep my job and just brush up on 68W AIT. I know Nothing is guarantee until I go back and talk to a GC at meps. Just trying to get some insights. Has anyone ever been in this predicament?

Keep you type job, maybe, just brush up at AIT unlikely. Depending on your assesssmentvyou may need to attend BT as well. Either way you need to acculturate into the Army, very different from the AF. Thank you for your service.

You MIGHT be able to come into the Army as a Medic but there is no brush up. You would have to go back to BCT as you came from the Air Force and you would go through the Army AIT for Medic as the two services are distinctly different in technique even if some of the training might be the same.

The job would be same but that is about it. Air Force to Army is like Apples to Oranges. And you would find it is no different no matter the service you went to. You would be prior service so would catch some slack in AIT a bit but that is about it.

I was in the Marine Corps, Army, Air Force. And to be honest ...you should try to get Air Force active duty.....Marine Corps and the Army crippled me....go out with the Army Reserve or National Guard as a guest during a Battle Assembly or hang out at a Army base or Fort......whole different planet...

You will need to submit a sister service conversion check through your recruiter. If it comes back favorable then good to go. If not then you will select from what is needed. You will also attend basic again and have your credentials checked to see if you will retain your rank or not.

Have to go to BCT, and recruiter submits to branch for MOS Determination.

I wasn’t just at meps yesterday switching from reserves to active when I got there they asked if I would like to maintain my current MOS and he assigned a duty station or call the ROC and ask for a new MOS, (I chose a new MOS by choice) but my experience from yesterday would say that if you would like to keep your MOS you can and will not go back to AIT just straight to a duty station that I’m assuming will be based on the needs of the Army

Just an update. Well I had no room for negotiation and I was very limited on jobs that was available. I had mostly infantry job. I settled with 88N and ship out soon. Thanks for all the advice. :)
