How long after BLC graduation does a battalion have to cut promotion orders? https://www.rallypoint.com/answers/how-long-after-blc-graduation-does-a-battalion-have-to-cut-promotion-orders

(I'm National Guard for clarity)
I graduated BLC 24 May, 1059 was in iPerms about 3 days later. I have been asking my Squad Leader to check on the status but have not heard back, he is mobilized for Covid-19 response in my state. He also has said that my promotion orders are "not the units priority" due to in-state mobilization. Another excuse I have been offered is the new arrival of the IPPS-A system into the state and that the battalion and state level HR personnel are back logged.
Another fun plot twist is that I volunteered for a deployment with another unit, with whom I have been drilling with for 2 months. So I am also getting told by the training and readiness NCO's from my "old" unit that the other should be handling everything. And vice versa.
Anyone have any suggestions? My orders were backdated and I received backpay from the date I graduated SLC. If they do things correctly, your orders should be backdated to the date you met all requirements for promotion (likely your BLC graduation date).

IPPS-A is wreaking havoc on administrative tasks and everything has been bogged down the last few months already in the Guard, now COVID on top of all that... Don't be surprised if it takes awhile to get an order published for your promotion.

Whomever's books you are on should be handling your administrative tasks regardless of where you are drilling. If you haven't yet received an assignment order to your new unit, then your old unit should be taking care of you administratively. Your BN probably won't have full access to IPPS-A until June, so your BN S1 should send a friendly reminder to BDE S1 that your BLC 1059 is done and needs to be coded along with completing the promotion order.
And once published, your "old" unit will need to submit a TL for your backpay. I have multiple SPCs who have graduated BLC but have yet to pick up because if cutting scores. The NG also promotes off a position slot and availability. Basically a current SGT has to promote or get out or move and you have to take their slot. I was guard for six years where myself and the other SPCs were in the E-4 mafia for multiple years with every requirement met. Unless you believe your unit is truly trying to not promote you, be patient and give them the benefit of the doubt. 1LT Private RallyPoint Member Mon, 13 Apr 2020 16:30:01 -0400 2020-04-13T16:30:01-04:00 2020-04-12T17:30:12-04:00
