How long after BLC graduation will I be promoted?

I am currently in an e5 slot, and will graduate tomorrow. How long after will I be promoted?

That is a very personal question (meaning it depends greatly upon the person in question and on the unit’s policy towards promotion).

That is a question best asked to your leadership. That being said, it’s your career, so be sure to bring it up with your leadership when you are able.

If your 1059 is submitted to HRC before the 8th if the next coming month, and you make the points requirement then you should make the next list and promote in September.

it all depends on your unit. My promotion orders were dated the day after I graduated PLDC.

My experience its entirely up to the unit your 1059 should IPERM Automatically; however, it takes time to process from the schoolhouse to IPERMS.

Orders need to be cut once 1059 is verified. Some guys it took a month, or longer others are still waiting.

This is where you need a good working relationship with your unit leadership. I checked IPERMS daily until it showed up then let my unit know it posted. I made sure that it was sent up to battalion.

This is your career now. Everything that happens is entirely in your hands. As a new or promotable E4, you need to take control of your future. You can't possibly expect others to follow you if you cant be squared away. Start now. Take the time to get yourself in order.

It depends on your state. I’ve seen some of my students pin SGT within days of graduating.

If you are a CPL in an E5 position because you accepted a STEP promotion offer, then as soon as your BN and BDE provide that 1059 to your state G1, the G1 will publish a promotion order with an effective date of rank for your graduation date of BLC.
Depending on your BN and BDE S1s and your state's G1, this could be a 3 week to 3 month process.

Completing BLC is not a countdown indicator to promotion. It is the door which opens the capability to BE considered for promotion. The short answer is no one here can answer your question because they don't know your MOS cutoff or how many points your have or where you fall on the list.

So with just being promoted I can say that the day you graduate your 1059 is automatically populated in the system. Since you are National Guard like me, your Readiness NCO would be the person to hit up, you can now track your promotion process through a website accessed through AKO, (i will find the site and link it when i get a chance) it shows your if it has been initiated, what level it is at, who has signed it, etc. Also since you are in a E5 slot already, there is no more points, your name is not on the promotion list for E5.

From my experience I had all the requirements and it took me 2 months after graduation. It all depends on if you meet all the qualifications and when the list comes out.

Congrats for doing the work of an e-5 and not getting paid for it. While you may retain e4 CPL long enough to get an NCOER, it will do nothing for you in regards to making SGT. Now you have to wait for points. What they DO NOT TELL YOU is that your points, schools, board memo, and records must be submitted and in the system (HRC) by the 8th of the month. If its not in by the 8th you will not be considered for promotion by HRC for the following month. Its a broke system that rely on privates in admin doing your paperwork. Unlike the USMC, the Army will not backdate a promotion because it believes it is your job to keep your records straight. If a solider could update his own records I would understand, but when you have to rely on S1, goodluck.
