How long can I wait to reenlist to fulfill a requirement for a school date?

So I got a report date for AIT sometime early next year but I have to reenlist to fulfill a requirement so I can secure the slot for the report date. I would like to wait a few months before I reenlist. If I wait to reenlist, will they give my slot for AIT to someone else? And if they do give my slot to someone else, will I still get another slot before I ETS?

Once you graduate AIT you can reenlist. Sooo...
Why don't you just extend for the required time?

This all sounds weird. You're a 17C but you tagged 17C as the school for reclass?
You said you have the school seat but then you say you have to secure the school seat? Which one is it?
What MOS is the reclass going to? Is this a voluntary reclass or a mandatory reclass or an Army Training reenlistment option?
