Had to get blood work with a waiver the blood work shown i was also anemic and i got a dq, the meps dr. told me to put in for a waiver that more than likely i would get it, it has now been sent to the general surgeon and am wondering how long it could take to be either approved or denied, and if denied what happens next?

Once submitted, the surgeon general will look over it. The length depends on how complex it is. He may ask for more test or documentation, in which you would go back to your doctor for. So it can be up in the air. If he says no, he can refer it to thebleve above him (OTSG) and that typically takes 30-45 days.

I am not certain how it works in the NPS centers from reading others NCO’s responses on here but it Chaplain Recruiting, we receive direct workflows from the SG that states his decisions. So, me telling you this is from my end. I can’t say if it’s different or not for other recruiters.

It could take up to 60 days once it reaches the surgeon general receives it believe but should be trackable by your recruiter. It is is denied that’s it for that branch. Unless you can appeal it.

SGT (Join to see) then depending on your waiver type that is that last step. There should be a time line for when it was submitted that can be tracked for when they will be reviewing those waivers of that time frame. So it’s just a waiting game. Good luck.

First of all waivers do not go to surgeons. Your waiver depends on the degree of your waiver.

It would go to a district commander of your branch Fir example the Recruitment Commander of your district of recruiters, next if it needs to go higher it would go to a regional panel of other Commanders of those people a military physician may be among them. Could take a few weeks for an answer if it goes higher than the district.
