How long does and Article 15 take to process for an active duty soldier in AIT?

The process goes like this. In the next day or two (business days), you will be called before the 1SG (and/or Commander) and given your first Article 15 Reading. You will be notified of the charges against you. I believe it is during this 1st Reading you are offered a chance to take the proceedings for the Article 15 or request trial by Court Martial (I could be mistaken as it has been 20 years since my last Article 15). Either way, you will be afforded time to speak with TDS (Trial Defense Services), time given to get witnesses to testify on your behalf. If you choose to not take Trial, then the Commander becomes your Judge and Jury. During your Second reading, if your case is weak, then you will most likely be found guilty and punishment will be imposed and begin that day. The level of punishment will be determined by the Article 15. Summarized, Company, or Field Grade. Each one would carry Extra Duty, but some you face loss of half a month's pay for either 1 or 2 months. Anywhere from 1 week to 45 days Extra Duty. The Extra Duty is to be served without interruption, and again, begins the day of imposing. If your Extra Duty runs over your time to graduate and report to your follow on, you are there until your Extra Duty is done.
