So, i got out January 2019 due to HYT and my separation pay was requested. Long story short: I have been battling it out with everyone trying to get my pay. Finally after over a year of trying, PSD finally got back to me saying that DFAS issued my separation payment on the 27th of March 2020, a day after I gave it one last chance to see if they would ever pay me by filing a dfas trouble ticket (I have filed probably 4-8 tickets throughout this entire process throughout this). Now, my question is, how long after PSD saw that DFAS issued this payment to my checking account, will I actually see these funds in my account and available for spending (I have Navy Federal if that makes a difference)? It has been exactly 7 days since I got word that it was issued. PSD told me more than likely I would get that payment this week (this week just ended). Can anyone help me with this question and tell me how long it takes after they issue a payment does it take for that payment to finally be deposited and ready for use? Honestly I am just beyond happy and blessed that I actually finally get this entitled pay after almost giving up thinking the Navy doesn't even care and will never issue a payment (I was almost about to consult with a lawyer just to see what I needed to do or if I should just give up). To get it during this time with everything that is going on in the world, is truly a blessing. Thank you in advance for any help!

If you are able to get on DFAS to submit trouble tickets, you should be able to see that payment on DFAS also.

Make sure the account they have on file for you is the same as the one you are currently using

How do you know someone, such as PSD, isn't just blowing smoke to get you off their back? Depending on the amount, it may still have to go through some sort of audit before you see it deposited. I doubt it in your case, but you never know.

She did mention that there still may be a debt to be taken out since my command waited almost a month later to fully process my separation paperwork in full. The way this whole thing went down made me feel like once I was separated, the Navy quit giving a shit and never made me a priority to get what was rightfully owed to me. My own PS1 blocked me from their Facebook after I respectfully inquired about the process and what they were doing and what to expect, never once was rude or anything of that matter. They always blamed it on our PSD’s consolidating and that I just need to wait and it will get done. I had to push back so much and go through so many channels it was crazy lol. Hopefully I am an anomaly honestly. I wouldn’t want others to experience this.

Do you have a time frame say if it does have to go through an audit? Maybe like an extra week possibly? Or longer?

SN Corey O'Neal - I think it should already have been paid, if DFAS has authorized it. I have no idea how long an audit or review would take -- it would depend on the reason for the audit. The amount you stated above, alone, would not justify and audit, however the possibility of a debt or a previous over-payment could be the problem. You should have been paid a year ago. You are absolutely correct, in my estimation. Once you were separated they had no incentive to do you right. There could be plenty of things I'm not seeing, but I'd have gone to my Congress-critter about this months ago, if it were me. You're very patient -- unlike me.

Thank you Sgt. I just never knew where to turn and everyone would just direct me to the next person and I would do another circle ending back where I started. I will call DFAS Monday if it’s not showing in my bank. If I get nothing, I will try and see how to go through my Congressman or reach back out to Mrs.Waldron. She told me to let her know by the 7th if no result so idk. Thank you for responding, I really appreciate you!
